30 YEARS AND GROWING

American Blackguard, Inc., incorporated in 2002, was formed in 1978 under the original name The Clay Stafford Company. After almost three decades of working behind-the-scenes creating or assisting quality international productions, the core staff of American Blackguard Film & Television have banded together as a truly independent production studio, developing projects completely in-house from concept through distribution.

Though most of our work is now centered on long-form film and television, our past was an eclectic mix.  Before uniting under the banner of American Blackguard, our staff had provided support and created content for Hollywood live action and animation studios, television networks, the music industry, international book publishers, the American stage, Broadway actors, authors, musicians, financial entities, medical institutions, healthcare providers, insurance companies, nonprofit organizations, associations, and historic landmarks.

Though primarily a film and television production company, in 2004, the company expanded to include a full-service public relations and marketing firm, which has - because of the amount of in-house long-form content now being generated - focused its attention now on servicing only in-house productions.  Our last outside-client campaign in 2007 was with Mystery Writers of America and horror master Stephen King.  We think we ended our outside client list with a bang.  Plans are being contemplated for opening the PR firm back up to outside clients.

Currently our body of production work performed for other companies as a loan-out of American Blackguard (and previously The Clay Stafford Company) is in over 14 languages and distributed throughout the world. Some of our internationally distributed productions which we've produced include:

  • The television movies "Michael" (PBS) and "Crossroads" (PBS)

  • The TV specials "What's the Story?" (PBS) and the multi-camera remote broadcast of the annual "Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade" (PBS) in Miami

  • Commercials for Budweiser and Help Wanted U.S.A.

  • Children's programming such as "Tell Me Why: Flight" (Penguin)

  • Travelogues for Esquire Magazine

  • The documentaries "Patterns of Power" (PBS) and the 26-part series "New Horizons in Bonsai" (PBS)

  • The live, call-in TV specials "We Are Family" (PBS) and "Proud to Be Me" (PBS)

Having built up an impressive resume of studio and independent associations over the course of 30-years, American Blackguard Film & Television is now moving into a new phase as its own studio with self-generated productions.
